Other Best Practices

Here are some other best practices that can make a big difference in the lives of many women faculty:

  • Departmental chairs and other administrators should make a concerted effort to achieve gender equity in highlighting female and male faculty expertise and accomplishments at department- and College-level meetings and in publicity materials, in order to make women faculty feel that they are a valued part of the community.
  • Departments and committees should be sensititve to family and childcare obligations and strive, whenever possible, to schedule meetings between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and avoid late evening hours.
